Used sailplanes

As the number of used glass sailplanes of the 1st and 2nd generation increases i wonder if there are test somewhere out there, telling the newbie how those planes behave (stall characteristics, glidepathcontroll, etc) Has the wing of the ASW 15 tested somhow somewhere? I would be glad to get in contact with somebody experienced who has flown most of these older ships (cirrus, dg 100,...) or get a reference to a test and info site! thank you in advance! Martin

In his book 'Gliding Safety' Derek Piggot has a chapter that reviews many sailplanes. It describes the handling characteristics of the planes he reviews. One of the ships he reviews is the ASW 15.

The book is probably available in the US from Bob Wander's Soaring Books and Supplies, Knauff and Grove and The SSA .

Derek is tentatively scheduled to speak at a Winter Soaring Seminar in Downers Grove IL, on February 16th. I suspect he will also be at the SSA convention. You may wish to try to catch up with him at one of those events.

Don't forget George Moffat's book, 'Winning on the Wind', available from SSA and others. Contemporary commentary of many 1st- and 2nd-generation glass ships.
