Father Christmas bought a shiny new Toshiba portege 4000, small enough to use in the cockpit if I wanted to ( thinks really hot moving map and final glide! ) . Problem is that it only has USB ports. Has anyone had any *practical* experience of using USB to serial convertors with a Colibri logger for task up and down loading and igc file dumping? Which one actually works.

regards

Assuming Colibri has Win32 (NOT DOS / WIN16) sw: Get the Xircom - this one has drivers that work (Win 9x-me, 2k). Xircom works great for our ILEC SN10 software. Do NOT get the Keyspan - this one has drivers that crash Win 9x on port open (as of a few months back, no experience with 2k drivers). Best Regards, Dave
