Well, I guess the pictures prove that RC model jet turbines can be used for self-launch 8^)

Maybe they should have purchased a better model self launcher then they wouldn't have to add the jet engines

The pictures ( www.genesisflyers.com ) showing my Genesis2 with a 'jet turbine' is a JetCat P200 mockup. As it looks now I will use a new Swedish jet turbine developed solely for sailplanes. The major advantage with this is that it starts on Jet A1 fuel (no starting gas). The engine(s) will be 100% retractable into the fuselage when not used.

Nice idea, especially if it easily can self start. Try to design it so that when the engines extend a cover also comes up to close the hatch. That way you don't have the added drag of a large hole in the

Yes it can. One start button and a throttle, that's it. 12-15 s. from pushing the button to full thrust. I will use the original hatch both when the engine is inside and outside.

A great idea I think but how do you intend to get it past the European beurocracy - JAR etc? I know the BGA is 'less than receptive' to the idea of retrofitting sustainer jet engines.

Depends on manufacturer, equipment and thrust, but I think it starts from $3.000.

Hi all. I'm new here, very interested to see this thread. There are several micro jet powered gliders appearing out there. Look at Silentwingsairshows.com. It's a Silent Club 12 meter with 2 45 lb. thrust toy jets.
Laugh at me, but I just joined up looking for info that might help me set up a microjet self launcher.

I'm looking for a strong, light, simple, easy to fly ship with an Experimental Amateur Built Airworthiness certificate and current annual. Intent is to hang a couple of those mico jets on it and see what happens.
