Can someone give me the US CFR (FAR) number that allow us to rig and de-rig and exempts us from having to make entries in the glider logbook each time we do it? I cannot locate this text.

The change came as a result of SSA government liaison efforts and the trade-off lies in FAR 61.87(i), and the private, commercial and CFI-G Practical Test Standards, which require knowledge of assembly & disassembly procedures.

Hmm... good question there Nyal
I can't recollect that I've seen a particular reference to that in the CFRs.
It is in the Glider Practical Test Standards that you are examined on assembly of a glider, either by actually doing one, or by oral test questions.
There is no reference I have found that a logbook entry is required every time a glider is 'rigged or de-rigged'.
Perhaps one of our CFIGs could suggest an answer?
