Tim Mara claimed the Region III boomerang trophy yesterday on 304C '1M' with a flight from Brokenstraw Airport (P15) to Dart Field (D79). Originally Tim and club member Dan Olson on LS3 'X2' had set out. As they penetrated closer to Lake Erie it got blue (cool air coming off the lake kills convection). Tim convinced Dan he better land at Jamestown (JHW) about 3/4 of the way to the goal, then got one last thermal for final glide. Those coming to claim the trophy can see airport owner Bill Holder.
