1. Focus on the topic or topics being discussed; if you stray off those topics we may remove your message without notice;
2. Do not threaten, harass, defame, libel or otherwise injure or risk injury to other participants through your words or otherwise; do not use 'hate words,' such as those that merely offend and do not add to debate or discussion;
3. Do not expose other participants to any form of obscenity or indecency;
4. We encourage you to use your real name; do not impersonate anyone else; obvious impostors may be removed without notice;
5. Do not manipulate the discussion group so as to make it impossible or difficult for others to enjoy it; this includes any effort to post a text format that is unreadable or that makes other postings unreadable.
6. Do not expose participants to any commercial material or solicitations;
7. Do not harvest or otherwise collect names, email addresses, or other identifying information from other participants. Now the Skyjudge...name 'Bubba'.. says what don't you understand?

Nice list - not the charter for this newsgroup - but nice nonetheless. In your case Rule three applies. Rule four applies.
Recommendation to list owner to bar your postings?

1. 'Bubba' whoever he/she is, appears to be contravening his/her own rule 4. Alternatively 'Bubba' is a good description of this poor character.
2. These may be the 'Rules of some discussion groups', but this is a particular newsgroup, and the majority of its readers have accepted limited advertising from people who have a lot to offer soaring as well as their products.

How about telling us who you really are? Do you even fly gliders? Have you ever flown gliders? If you won't own up to your real name why don't you disappear in the direction of sci.space.shuttle ? That group could use a little cleanup and I'm sure you will make a difference.
How about we all agree to use real names on r.a.s. ?(most do) I'm willing to make an exception for Soarpoint who unfortunately seems to have gone into hibernation.

Some of us can't. Thanks to the money managers at worldcom and a few other places, the local news servers seem to have gone belly up. Don't like using Google, no MIDI groups, but it's all that's available here, thirty miles from Milwaukee and 1000 miles from civilization. Five other people in the state with the same first and last name, and every one of them inhabits the polywhacko groups. If anyone wants to know who I am, I know john roe has it on file, and al probably has

I still think the charter of this group allows commercial participation, judging by what I believe is the ACTUAL charter of RAS...
Subject: CHARTER: rec.aviation.soaring Date: Wed, 19 Sep 2001 07:45:02 GMT
Newsgroups: rec.aviation.soaring Followup-To: poster
[This message is posted automatically every month.]
The charter of rec.aviation.soaring is:
*******************************************************
*************** ******* * Soaring: equipment, maintenance, instruments, safety, training, * soaring sites, current events, FAI badge rules and class * definitions, meteorology, history, homebuilts, vintage * sailplanes, the science and technology of motorless flight, etc. *******************************************************
*************** *******
There are now many separate subgroups on rec.aviation; if the charter above doesn't match the content of the article you're posting (or you're following up), please consider one of the other groups as a more appropriate forum:
rec.aviation.aerobatics Aerobatics and unusual attitude flying * rec.aviation.announce Events of interest to the aviation community * rec.aviation.answers Frequently asked questions about aviation rec.aviation.hang-gliding Hang-gliding, paragliding, foot-launched flight rec.aviation.homebuilt Selecting, designing, building, and restoring aircraft rec.aviation.ifr Flying under Instrument Flight Rules rec.aviation.marketplace Aviation classifieds rec.aviation.military Military aircraft of the past, present and future rec.aviation.military.naval Discussion of Naval Aviation subjects rec.aviation.misc Miscellaneous topics in aviation rec.aviation.owning Information on owning airplanes rec.aviation.piloting General discussion for aviators rec.aviation.products Reviews and discussion of products for pilots rec.aviation.restoration Forum for debate on aircraft restoration rec.aviation.rotorcraft Helicopters and other rotary wing aircraft rec.aviation.simulators Flight simulation on all levels rec.aviation.soaring All aspects of sailplanes and hang- gliders * rec.aviation.stories Anecdotes of flight experiences rec.aviation.student Learning to fly rec.aviation.ultralight Light aircraft in general, all topics rec.aviation.balloon Hot air and gas balloons and airships rec.aviation.powerchutes Safety and operation of powered parachutes
[newsgroups marked by * are moderated groups]
A common question is 'what should I do if an article spans the charters of two or more groups?' The answer is cross-posting. If you have an article which clearly crosses the boundaries of several groups, you should post a **single** copy of the article to **all** of the relevant groups. Don't post separate copies to each group. Most modern newsreaders will display the article exactly once to the reader
