Outside Connection is back online after recovering from the NIMDA virus. It only covers the Pacific Northwest now, but it has near real-time weather data shown as cool little icons on cool topographical maps. Historical weather data since 12:00 am every day is also available by clicking on any station icon. Enjoy.

Jim, Have you seen what Spokane NWS is doing http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/Spokane/index.shtml Click Current Weather. I think Missoula NWS may have started this. I like that there are many stations other than airports shown. If you're a C programmer, take a look at Observation Monitor at http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/wrhq/LSA/lsa1.html

Missoula used to have a web page where you could watch it would show only stations that met a certain weather criteria, such as stations where wind speed exceeded XX or those where dewpoints dropped by more than Y over a certain period. In another words, it was like an 'alerter' tool. Dennis Everett WA

If you live in California, have a look at 'http://cdec.water.ca.gov/cgi-progs/queryF?s=crk&d=now& span=12hourshtt...' . There are quite a few sites within California that have hourly Temperature, Wind, etc. The sites are close to soaring airports at Hemet, Warner Springs, and Crystallaire, to name a few.
