see how much earlier it's here. Wait a minute I haven't seen it for a week, due to rain, sleet and a touch of snow, so sunrise is still going to be later than I last seen it. Well anyway just a few months to go, no that's the end of Feb. deep snow then. March? more than likely to still have snow piles along the runway. April, Mud season. Well it's nice to know we are over the hump anyway.

Yay! But before that, there's a long season of wave-flying.

It's not only due to the snow... look at the sun ephemerides and you'll see that sunrise keeps going later and later every morning until 10th of January !

Yeah, but sunset gets later faster. Earliest sunset was Dec. 7 for 40 deg. N (about a mile up the road from here). Sleep later, soar later!

Cheers,

Days are becoming longer, but this doesn't mean that the sun is raising earlier in the morning. Now the increase in the day length is only due to the fact that the gain at the sunset is higher that the loss at the sunrise. For people curious about the astronomical reasons, this is due to the non-uniformity of the apparent movement of the sun in the sky, which in turn is a consequence of the elliptic orbit of the earth and the angle between the plane of this orbit and the equator.
