Any words of wisdom regarding the purchase and importation of a used glider from Europe. Any information/experiences will be appreciated. My major concerns are the cost of transportation ,insurance, replacement or modification to the metric instruments, and the U.S. registration procedures. I have the physical inspection covered.

Not much that I can add except that the trailer must meet US 'traffic safety' regulations. It's kind of like importing a car, except the trailer only needs to meet a very few standards (I think that lights, including side reflectors and maybe brakes and requirement for an emergency triangle installed). If you have a statement from the trailer manufacturer that the trailer meets US standards, it will help you A LOT! Also, some trailer manufacturers are switched on and provide the 'US Legal' plate installed (riveted or stickered) onto the frame. Either of these take care of it. You have to provide proof to US Customs that the trailer complies when it's imported
