Genesis in Europe?

All these postings about the flying wing type gliders have made me very curious. Have any of these gliders been sold in Europe?

Is there an importer who would be so kind as to come visit my aeroclub (somewhere next year, probably) so we can have a blast at flying a Genesis II or another type?

There was a report about the Genesis in the french magazine 'Vol a Voile Magazine' some time ago, so at least one of them was available for the test. I don't even know if it is certified for France, I guess the answer is no.

There was an article in Vol a Voile in 1995. It was based on previous articles and information provided by Group Genesis.

When I was touring Europe with my Genesis in 1999 I did not fly at any gliding clubs in France.

The Genesis 2 glider does meet JAR requirements but that alone is not enough to get it certified in any one country; getting that done is as much political as technical. Without serious interest from that country there is little incentive to spend the time and money certify it there. England would most likely be the easiest country to deal with on this, and that idea was briefly explored during my visit there. Present and past members of the B.G.A.'s Technical Committee flew the Genesis and were favorably impressed.

There is a Genesis 2 in Sweden.

It is owned by Magnus Johansson in Orebro, reg SE-UMM. He flew several long XC flights in it last summer and it has a Swedish C of A.
