PRESENTATION OF THE ACTIVITY

We are doing a privat soaring activity in the SOUTH EAST AREA of France, THE FASCINATING LANDSCPAE CALLE PROVENCE - WHICH HAS BEEN ATTRACTIVE SINE MANY YEARS FOR PROFESSIONAL GLIDER PILOTS, MANY OTHER SPORTSMEN AND ARTISTS LIKE VAN GOGH AND PICASSO. Come and fly on the superglider NIMBUS-4 DM - we are doing this activy in the provence alps between sea and montains. We make big flights up to 500 kilometers and more, flying over beautiful places like 'Gorge du Verdon' or 'Glacier Blanc' at Briancon, you can see 'cote d'azur' and the wonderfull mediterranean sea. In a sympatic ambiance you discover the typical smell of the Provence, sunshine weather conditions, delicious local food, olive trees and lavander files, typical French restaurants and Provence wine. The activity is done in a very personal and friendly environment, with the flight security beeing our permanent and first attention during this adventurous and very creative sport. My name's sylvain Proust i'm 24 years old I'm passionate about aeronautics and more over in soaring . I do gliding activity since 5 years . I have been gliding instructor in the French alps during two years and accumulated 1000 hours of flying. This activity is my real passion and I like flying in the montains.I want to share all my experience and fligths to anybody who wants to really know what soaringis.This year I do offer my services open to public and create my own activity of gliding. In order to offer you the best possible conditions for your flying vacations I have choosen the French Alps as a location for this activity and provide to you the world's best glider NIMBUS-4DM - combined with all my knowledge about the Aerology of the Provence and Alpine region. On top of that you can profit from my local language skills and detailed knowledge about the culture of the South France area - so that you can really enjoy your vacation in France. CONDITIONS

- Minimum age: 13 years -It's adviced to have an air experience if you don't go to a club and learn to fly because we do not instruction -Help is asking for the ground handling and manipulation of the glider -Every flight is done against a financiary compensation at 305 EURO PER day(unlimited flight) or 150 EURO per hour plus 30 euro to taking off -Reserve your flying vacations as earliest as possible to choose the best weather period because we are not alone to fly on this glider -We will beginning to fly at the first of april 2002

GLIDER

The nimbus 4 DM is a high performance two-seat sail plaine, constructed from re-inforced carbon-fibres. With a wing span of 26.6 meters it is the largest and best performing sailplane so far produced in series . With the best glider ratio of about 60 points andoutstanding stabilities at low speed and in circling flight .The nimbus 4 DM is a match for the comparable single seaters. Its harmony of controls and manoevrability convey the impression of a considerably smaller two seater. A result which could only be achieved by the extraordinary aerodynamic design of the wing, combined with on elaborate control system.

Don't be surprise if you don't get too many replies to this at first. Maybe other folks like me are sat wondering how on earth you can get a N4DM loaned for this kind of (ad)venture!

Anyway, like many others I think I'll save the details and see if I'm in the area anytime (Yeah, right!). If pilots are in the South of France for a family vacation I can see you getting quite a few that are out on a day-release program!

I have to be in Northern Italy in June and plan to give this a try. I'll report back on how it works out. somebody used to do a similar thing in the Owens Valley, but I haven't seen any adds or mention of it in recent times.

I do it in Aspen Co!....In a Stemme, taxiing is more elegant. AND I have 35 years experience. The glaciers are a little smaller, the Peaks are about the same hights!
