This is to update the group on the Exemption for external I.D. plates on gliders. The original one expired on Oct.30, 2000. There is a new one, No. 4988A, that the SSA has available by fax or mail. Just contact the SSA (505-392-1177) and they'll send you a copy. I was also told they'll have the exemption available on the SSA website in the near future.

Al, They weren't and didn't; aren't and don't. You once alleged that EAA membership secured all the benefits of government advocacy that any soaring pilot needs. It never has; doesn't; and won't. They don't care, Al. That's the point.

And you think Larry and Co had more clout with the FAA than either the EAA or AOPA?
I don't think so. Your argument is irrelevant in the context you use.

Al - this is low class even by your standards. You usually manage to be provocative & inflammatory without resorting to this sort of thing. Why the loss of control here?

Ok, Al. Show me the exemption for homebuilt experimental aircraft, warbirds, and classic airplanes. Maybe they like the labels, but how would that be relevant? What's relevant is that we don't care for them on gliders, and SSA got the exemption for us. The context for that argument is reality: That's the way it happened. As to context, I'll take reality over speculation every time. Which of us is flying the sim here, Al?
