I'm looking for a light weight, strong, easy to fly sailplane with amateur Built Experimental Airworthiness Certificate and current annual/condition inspection.
Suggestions?
Does anyone know anything about the Mistral-C? (Its at the top end of my weight window, GW 770#.)

It seems that the PIK-20B is considered much better than the mistral so you might want to check it out

Thanks
PIK20-B is a very interesting ship, and it's about 40Lbs. lighter than a Mistral with 5 points on the L/D. I've been told the flap mechanism is a wheel that requires you to count and remember the number of turns...also, I don't think it's a homebuilt, so it won't have the Experimental Amateur Built Airworthiness Certificate I'm looking for right now.

I don't want to sound overly nosey, but why experimental as opposed to standard certification? Unless you have an A&P rating the experimental category doesn't get you much more flexibility than a certificated category. If the condition inspection (for an experimental) or the annual inspection (for standard airworthiness) is current, neither should need much in the way of repairs for a while. Granted, you can do some repairs to the experimental that you wouldn't be able to do to standard certification, but it will still take at least an A&P to sign off for the return to service. Unless I was very familiar with the aircraft, and/or knew the builder, I'm not sure I would trust an experimental as much as a standard certificate. There are some builders who do an excellent first rate job,and there are some who don't.
