Everything You Wanted To Know About SpaceShipOne

I usually don’t write about space ships in this website but the coming of a new book that tells the story of SpaceShipOne “SpaceShipOne: An Illustrated History” is a good enough reason.
The book is by Aviation and aerospace writer Dan Linehan’s and it sounds promising as it contains more than photos and diagrams of the first private-sector spaceship but also inside scientific info that was not known when it won the Ansari X Prize and anecdotes such as this.
Before it was ever named SpaceShipOne, the world’s first private-sector spaceship was designed for a splashdown if necessary. And when the rocket plane and its carrier airplane made a farewell trip to the museum, SpaceShipOne looked so much like a missile that a skittish air controller nearly denied the pilot permission to land
In any case it seems as a good read for the aviation lover.
