Electric Flight

Further to the post a little while ago about electric flight.

I think what the world is waiting for is the hybrid. Imagine a hydrogen fuel cell powering a generator that charges accumulators topped by super efficient solar cells. This is all either here, or just around the corner.

You could fly your electric paramotor, powered hang glider, light aircraft for hours and hours on a couple of dollars.

This technology is empowering, rather like safer new wing designs, lightweight fabrics and step ups in engine technology and new alloys.

Can you wait?

I'm really excited about the new possibilities.

Me neither Gloria but it just put the kettle on for a nice cup of tea and before you know it, someone will be doing it on Science and Technology on CNN. Particularly if the device carries a weapon, can stay up there for momths and doesn't make much noise.....

Cynical? Moi?

I hope for other uses enabling much more green aviation and new possibilities but I guess most chances are that you are right and such new technology would be used for military purposes.
It is a shame that whenever something new is invented the first thing that is examined is it's effectiveness in killing other people.
