Hi

I'm struggling with an offer that I *could* refuse if I was better informed.

I'm considering a purchasing a DG100 (although it might be a 100G or a 101) and I'd like your comments. There are a couple of things that I'd like to know L/D, a polar as there isn't one at http://www.dg-flugzeugbau.de that I can find, but most importantly a comparison with the Astir CS would be useful. The club I fly at has two which I have been making extensive use of and while it would be nice to have my own aircraft I don't really want to end up with an aircraft of less/same performance

My club has Astirs and I own a DG100 so have flown both. The DG100 is a much better bet than the Astir, much more responsive to fly, gives you more feedback as to what the air is doing and has a better glide than an Astir.

As to which model, if you can get a 101 then do so as this has the single piece canopy which is much more conveiniant than the older 100 models. The G models have a standard tail plane rather than the all flying one that the non G models have. I have no experience of a G.

Having said all this the Astir has a much bigger cockpit than the snug DG100 which is of interest to some people. Getting in the Astir I always think it's huge.

Surely you aren't suggesting that some Astirs feel like fly lead bricks are you

Thanks - I still haven't found out what model ... and now I'll know the difference the 'G' makes

I can't say that I rattle around the Astir cockpit - might be the deciding factor - how do they compare for size with DG200/300 cockpits (which I can try this weekend) ?

The cockpit on a 200 and a 100 are much the same (apart from no flap lever in the 100) as the 200 and 100 fusalage are I believe pretty identical. The cockpit is narrower than the Astir but part of that is due to the fact that the DG100 doesn't have the large parcel shelves down either side that the Astir has

I have seen some large people get in a DG100. The 101 single piece canopy would make getting in and out easier as well.
