Does anyone know what a Compaq Aero 1520 or 1530 or 1550 can accept for a charging voltage?

The unit states 5 volts and that is what its supplied charger is.

I would like to get an inexpensive auto adapter like ones that are made for cell phones.

Likewise, does anyone know a source to find out the output voltage on the various cell phone auto adapters?

Thanks,

Go to Radio Shack and get a 5V regulated output chip. It takes 12V in and gives you 5V out. Costs under $5. Jim N483SZ

As a battery I use 4 rechargable penlites on the back of my craddle. The voltage is sometimes (when they are just charged) 5.5V, the Compaq Aero (2160) doesn't care about that.

Sony CMD-J5 cell phone charger works fine for me. Should be cheap to buy. And what's more, the plug fits the Compaq socket - you just need to cut or grind the outer sleeve of the plug a little bit.

Dave & all:

In the end, I found that a CD Walkman (from Philips) auto adapter works great!

It is labeled as 4.5 volts. In actuality, it produces 5.17 to 5.38 V. (I have
