I have started to do a lot more ridge soaring in the last couple years and most places I go seem to have very nice 3D topo maps somewhere to look at. All of these maps appear to have been purchased quite a few years ago. I have done searches on the internet but have not found anything yet. I would like to find a source to purchase these maps in the USA, anyone with any leads please post here or email me at the below address, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Joe Simmers

Tactical Pilot Charts (TPC) are very good for this:

US Tactical Pilot charts (TPC) Maps. These maps are perfect to investigate terrain of a region. Heights are given in feet. All airports even with the right heading of the runway and much other flight relevant information are marked. As is it made for Pilots flying relatively quick over terrain, the built up area information as well as the road network information is quite basic on these maps.

Here's a ridge in Iraq that looks interesting . http://www.humanitarianinfo.org/iraq/maps/300b%20A3% 20tpc%20g_4b%20sw...

I forgot to mention:

Tactical Pilot Charts (TPC) are readilly available to the civilian population. The pilot shop at my local airport (Wings at KASH) carries a dozen of so different TPCs. No doubt they're also available online.

Thanks Eric that is exactly what I want. It appears the TPC charts are what I want for in the cockpit also.

Thanks to everyone for your responses.

www.vrotate.com has the TPC available online, as well as other DOD style maps.
